I recently joined a group on Facebook called The I Don’t Care Club. It’s for women going through perimenopause, menopause and are over it. This group has turned me on to a whole new vocabulary. One thing I will say to these ladies, however, is that even though I’m in the ‘over it’ group, those hot flashes never stop.
Yesterday the high temperature here in Florida was about 60 degrees. For me, cool and pleasant. I left the house for fifteen minutes and when I came back, my husband had turned the heat up to seventy-nine degrees. I entered the gates of hell. When he wasn’t looking, I turned the thermostat down and changed out of my now sweaty sweater and exchanged it for a cotton t-shirt. He always asks why I have so much more laundry than he does.
A word that I discovered from this group that fascinates me is ‘boobage’. I typed the work into an online dictionary, and it came back with the word ‘bookshelf’. My boobage often acts like a shelf, collecting bits of food and drink that I can no longer see when it doesn’t quite reach my mouth. I have to remove my glasses when eating to see what’s on my plate. The closer my fork gets to my mouth, the harder it is to see what I’m eating. My boobage acts as a shelf for wayward crumbs in case I’m hungry again later. However, I haven’t found any good books on my own personal boobage shelf that have been worth curling up in a comfy spot to read.
Sometimes I type words and phrases into AI out of curiosity, just to see what it will spit out. Today I used the word menopause. It was thinking, said it was creating a draft and then poof. My screen turned read. Error! Try again? I said yes, please try again. It thought longer this time before returning the same error message. The third time must be the charm, I thought. Again, my screen turned red with an error. What does that tell me? AI is only concerned with topics of interest to men. I’m going to keep searching for menopause until some computer that is sucking down all the electricity, we menopausal women need to stay cool calm and collected, gets the hint.
